The project is nicknamed Losharik, because "Losharik" was a cartoon horse made from bubbles.
The technological basis for Project 210 submarine is that it is, basically, made of "bubbles", perfect bathyspheres surrounded by the outer hull.
The special characteristic of a bathysphere is that it can withstand A LOT MORE water pressure than a typical cylindrical submarine hull. In fact, the outer hull of Losharik only serves as a covering for the spheres and the spaces between the bathyspheres are filled with a liquid that is lighter than water (e.g. benzene).
This characteristic allows this mini-sub to descend to 6000 m depth. Normal cylindrical submarines have a much smaller crush depth.
