China’s giant drone carrier Jiu Tian completes first flight

China’s giant drone carrier Jiu Tian has completed its maiden flight in northwest China’s Shaanxi. The aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight of 16 tons, with the payload capacity of up to 6,000 kilograms. It is able to fly for 12 hours. The drone is able to transport heavy supplies to remote mountainous areas with high precision, which will be helpful in disaster response efforts, geographic mapping, disaster assessment and mineral exploration.
