Russian airstrike kills at least two people west of Kyiv

A Russian airstrike hit a residential area near a hospital in Zhytomyr, the city's Mayor Serih Sukhomlin said in a Facebook video. 

The strike occurred late Tuesday night, local time. 

Ukraine’s emergency services said the strike:

killed at least two people

set three homes on fire

broke the windows in the hospital

Zhytomyr is about 140 kilometres west of Kyiv and is the home of Ukraine's elite 95th Air Assault Brigade — it's thought that may have been the intended target.
