9月3日，随着第二台“海翼”水下滑翔机顺利回收至“向阳红03号”科考船，中国科学院机器人与智能制造创新研究院（筹）（以下简称“创新研究院”）研制的两台“海翼”水下滑翔机全部完成大洋第45航次东太平洋断面观测任务。
7月12日，两台“海翼”水下滑翔机搭乘“向阳红03号”科考船从厦门启航，执行大洋第45航次东太平洋断面观测任务。8月25日，两台“海翼”水下滑翔机在东太平洋预先设定观测断面成功布放，并自主执行观测任务。9月1日，第一台滑翔机率先完成观测任务并顺利回收，9月3日，第二台滑翔机完成观测任务并顺利回收。两台水下滑翔机累计航行了415公里，累计工作18天，获得了近150个精细剖面观测数据。
此次“海翼”水下滑翔机的应用是在没有创新研究院研发人员随船情况下，完全由科考队员独立完成下水前准备、布放和回收。本航次的成功应用，进一步验证了“海翼”水下滑翔机的易用性、可靠性和稳定性。
