Frinds if a country is supplying goods to whole WORLD then admit that it will have some thing which we dont have.
we import telecom , milatry ships , space technology , aircraft from abroad but never try to make them our own but China has this vision. we as IT supoer power work in top most companies of world but did we made any google or microsoft? ( china has his own searh engine Baidu)
and recently they launched their own GPS. they made their own aircraft, bullet train. we think that every one has go a mobile phone and that is progress but China is putting his name as top most telecom technoloy supplier.. we should learn from them this things..

During the cold war era, Russia was matching with America in each and every filed with a state controlled economy, but later the private entrepreneurship such us Google, Apple, Microsoft and others pulled America to greater heights and that was possible because America was a free society like India. Even in China they are astonished to see how India was able to achieve 7 to 9 percent growth year after year with out any major stimulant program from Indian government, but on the other hand the Chines government have pumped billions of dollars to achieve 8 to 10 percent growth in the past five years... So Rediff don't be so negative to give such article where you ridicule India, China is good in it's own way and we are good in our own way, and we are not doing bad either...
But as long us Congress rules India we are never going to be a developed country they are like a cancer eating us within...

India is not progressing fast enough because tere are too many people like you who live at the bottom of a well and never have a chance to see what the real world is. Private economy takes more than 70% share of China's ecomomy and China has a lot of rich businessmen even China's private economy has only about 30 year history.

However if India achieves constast growth rate of 10% and China slows down to modest 2-3% then only India will be able catch up with China in roughly 50 years. However both scenarios looks unlikely.
Author is only playing with figures without telling the facts.

Rediff is only printing hard facts and reality. China is progressing at massive speed and it is visible to the people around the world. It doesn't matter if they are copying US, Europe or anything else.
It is also a fact that reading such facts leaves us Indians frustrated since our government is not progressing at such fast pace (at least not visibly) and we wonder how we are going to be a superpower in the next 30-40 years.

how do you know China is more united?, India stands 84 in corruption perception Index chinese are some 75 or so (oh the great difference after all is 9 places), mind you there is death penalty in china for severe corruption.

54 years?india begin its economy from 1991.if you say 54years,China may be 62 years from 1949.

whatever it is we are democratic country, what is use of economic prospects when you are still a controlled freedom-less place. i am quite happy with india. China will have a revolution, but when? that is the biggest question now!

A country which bans "Google",stashes commuters in trains and buses with force, kills thousands and thousands of pets at one go, due to fear of rabies, skin animals alive, use animal bones, tooth and whiskers for potency, eat cat,dog, monkeys with relish..has a long way to go to become civilised in the proper sense.

They eat only animals/ birds/ reptiles/ amphibians but we eat humans too in addition to this. You mean it's this point that makes us civilised?
Wake up mate & stop day-dreaming. Even if you waste ten more geneations, you can never dream of becoming developed/ civilised because the gap between developed worrld & Indians goes widening. In the beginning, the developed world was one pace ahead of India, then they went ten steps ahead. That ratio of 1:10 goes on widening tenfolds, hundredfolds etc.

Am not day dreaming man. Given the option to choose a product, I'll not buy chinese, at least 80% knowledgable people won't. Go and visit the sweat shops in industrial cities and towns of China, where workers work like slaves. Am not saying India does not have maladies like child labour, honour killings, dowry killings. At least we have the chance to make ourselves heard. Open your mind matey. What you're seeing is Promotion box of Windows Vista!!

blocking facebook,google or twitter is not the end of the world,,,those Chinese have their own search engine,social network....and more over they have guts to say get out for any billion dollar company which breaks their rules...

Agreed our politicians are corrupt and not good enough, do we exchange that for a dictatorship? Just because we didn't like a subject at school, did we abandon education? I guess not.
China has progressed far and fast, but at what cost? Do you know, during the Bejing Olympics, thousands of families were packed off onto trucks and sent off to the countryside, their homes razed to build stadiums and multiplexes..... to impress the world about China. Can we for one moment imagine that during the CWG, we can manage to do it and as a nation condone the action.
Yes, India is not perfect, but at least we are free. Do you think we would be able to have this discussion in China? Check out the news..there is a black out in China due to the Nobel Prize winner. Figure it out fellow citizens

My friend,
Middle class and upper middle class people can sit all day and talk about freedom's virtues. At the end of the day, nothing matters when one has no food on his/her plate. The so called non-existense of freedom in China is just a propoganda by US of A. I'm from India and have lived in both China and USA. Believe me, India can break the shackles of poverty and corruption more easily by the Chinese form of governance than the failed democracy as we have it.

You mean to tell me that there was no black out on the Nobel Prize ceremony, no one was evicted from Bejing to beautify the city and that one can have as many kids if so one wishes? Freedom matters to those who have lived without it. Try living in a room all by yourself without any communication for a week. Then even a whiff of fresh air would precious. I am from India but have been often a second class citizen coz, I was from the south and staying in the north east.
Yes, do agree abt the bit of India breaking the shackles....but then we need to get good leaders
