BEIJING (AP) — A Chinese spacecraft carryingthree astronauts docked with an orbiting module Monday, another first for thecountry as it strives to match American and Russian exploits in space.龙腾网版权所有 http://www.ltaaa.com
TheShenzhou 9 capsule completed the maneuver with the Tiangong 1 module shortlyafter 2 p.m. (0600 GMT), 343 kilometers (213 miles) above Earth. The dockingwas shown live on national television.龙腾网版权所有 http://www.ltaaa.com
Astronautswill live and work in the module for several days as part of preparations formanning a permanent space station. The crew includes 33-year-old Liu Yang, anair force pilot and China'sfirst female space traveler.

Monday'sdocking also was completed by remote control from a ground base in China. A manualdocking, to be carried out by one of the crew members, is scheduled for laterin the mission.
Liu isjoined by mission commander and veteran astronaut Jing Haipeng, 45, and crewmate Liu Wang, 43. About three hours after the docking the three were shown onlive television entering the Tiangong 1, grabbing handles as they floated alongin their blue spacesuits.
They willspend at least 10 days in space on China'sfourth manned mission, which was launched Saturday from the Jiuquan center onthe edge of the Gobi desert in northern China.
China is hoping to join theUnited States and Russia as theonly countries to send independently maintained space stations into orbit. Itis already one of just three nations to have launched manned spacecraft ontheir own.
Anothermanned mission to the module is planned later this year. Possible futuremissions could include sending a man to the moon.
TheTiangong 1, which was launched last year, is due to be replaced by a permanentspace station around 2020. That station is to weigh about 60 tons, slightlysmaller than NASA's Skylab of the 1970s and about one-sixth the size of the16-nation International Space Station.
China has only limitedcooperation in space with other nations and is excluded from the ISS, largelyon objections from the United States.
China firstlaunched a man into space in 2003 and conducted a two-man mission in 2005. Athree-man trip in 2008 featured the country's first spacewalk.

此次中国载人任务至少将耗时10天，飞船在星期六由中国西北戈壁沙漠边缘的酒泉卫星发射中心发射。
中国正期望继美国和俄罗斯之后成为首个独立发射空间站的国家。她已经是能够发射裁人航天器的3个国家之一。

stopthe welfare programs demand people on gov't aid must work in some form. whetherit is labor or what ever. there is a task they could do. make them earn their
handoutsor refuse any money to them. take what is saved and pump it back into the spaceprogram. that will be billions and billions of dollars. their are jobs thatneed to be done. their are bodies that are collecting checks and giving nothingback. make those bodies give back to the system or cut them out. take thesavings and pump up the space program. that simple system will save costs onGov't jobs that need doing and will save money on people that refuse to workbecause they think they are entitled to what us workers earn. they are not.they should be forced to work if they collect.

Thecold war is over so there is a lack of justification of the expense for spaceprogram. I imagine that if Chinacan dig out gold from moon in the future, perhaps everybody else will resumetheir more ambitious space program … that’s real motivation …

Welcometo the new world order..................instead of competing, we're makinghigher education even more expensive. We need to wake up and realize thattoday's kids are our future. There should be scholarships for students majoringin engineering, math and other sciences (not for majors such as under-waterbasket weaving or, advanced toe-nail picking). Other nations are catching upand we're too wasteful of both our time and money.

China certainly deserves kudosfor their well-managed space program (as compared to the debacle that is NASA).Their approach is cautious and measured, but very effective. Of course, theyhave the advantage of being able to set long-term goals and sticking to them.Our space priorities change with every new President. Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton,Bush Jr and Obama have all had different visions about our space programdirection. It does cause us to veer around wildly.
