There are conflict reports pointing the fact that the vessel was hit but not sunk. Its major structure is still in tact. The Iranian version of the anti-ship missle has its own guidence. It hit the flight deck of the vessel where a major maintenance equipment was in use at that time. That equipment is not fit to be radar evasive like all the other enginerring equipments. The missle targets this bright spot, rather than the more critical part of the vessel.
