Dramatic footage has emerged showing Ukrainian forces shooting down a reported Russian helicopter as it goes down into a ball of flames in a field.

Ukraine's Armed Forces shared the video on their official account on Saturday (March 5) as they thanked their aerial surveillance team for taking down Vladimir Putin's troops.

The 32-second clip shows the combat helicopter flying above the tree lines before a fast-travelling missile with a trail of smoke strikes the vehicle.

The impact ends in a huge explosion in the sky as the helicopter being engulfed by plumes of black smokes before crashing onto a field.

A Russian helicopter was shot down by Ukrainian armed forces while flying over a field 

"Glory to Ukraine!" the Facebook post added.

Some online viewers speculated the helicopter is a Mi-24 helicopter gunship, which is often being referred as a "flying tank" by Soviet forces.
